In his “Tear in Town” series, Mojtaba Amini has adopted an ironic, defiant, critical approach. He has manipulated a number of masked protestors’ images that he has found on the internet, taken them out of their original contexts, and translated them onto of sandpapers and unused postal packages. Cities can become the heart of civil protests and the graveyards of riot acts. “Tear in Town” is a reconstruction of urban protests in the absence of the city.
