In choosing “winter” as the title of this series, we do not have its general sense—the coldest season of the year—in mind, but a specific, personal one. What we wanted the artists to express, was an individual, lived experience of the word “winter”: what it means to each one of us and how it is translated into the language of photographic imagery.
