Following last year’s “Portfolio” exhibition, Mohsen Gallery presents one of its most prestigious exhibitions, “Portfolio 02,” featuring works by six Iranian artists. Images in these portfolios represent a tenacious vision, maintained through a project or a body of work that the artists has developed through hard work, experimentation, and determination.
Making an effort to provide a new setting for presentation, also aiming to draw attention to the significance of collecting artworks in an integrated format, Mohsen Gallery is holding “portfolio” exhibitions in order to invite the audience to encounter directly and immediately with a specific series of works by each artist.
Portfolio is a collection of works that visually represents interests, explorations, and abilities of each artist. Sometimes referred to as a “lookbook,” it is a uniform method for showcasing an artist’s style and/or method to viewers. Collectors, museums, and university libraries are usually among the addressed groups of these kinds of shows.
Collecting photographs was practically simultaneous with the invention of photography. Today, investing in portfolios is an advisable strategy for earnest and thoughtful collectors who do not want to possess individual artworks at a high price and instead are interested in the way one particular artist is dealing with a specific subject-matter or a definite method of working.
