Setareh Nejadi

Setareh Nejadi (b. 1983, Tehran, Iran) has received her BFA In Painting from Tehran University of Art. Nejadi lives and works in Tehran.

In my paintings, I draw inspiration for historical spaces, abandoned buildings, and old plains of my country, within which there is a strong presence of stories and historical events despite their silence. Just as those spaces are marked by the occurrence of many events, and yet like an illegible inscription engraved on a stone, they convey only a vague concept, I also create images that instead of being a context for representing events from the past, they merely bear traces of that past and the image itself is nothing but a ruin. “
