Mahmoud Mahroumi (b. 1976, Sabzevar, Iran) is an Iranian conceptual artist and sculptor. He has received his BA in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran. His structures, volumes, and installations are unpleasantly clear and impossible to avoid. Making use of metaphors and symbols with cold and stark materials such as concrete, cement, and metal, Mahroumi’s multilayered works explore themes of death, destruction, desperation, and devastation. His works have been exhibited in more than thirty group shows and three solo exhibitions as well as biennials, and festivals. He has won the first prize in the 6th Tehran Sculpture Biennial in 2011. Mahroumi lives and works in Tehran.
