Amirhossein Bayani (b. 1977, Tehran, Iran) is a visual artist and curator. He received a BFA in Painting from Tehran University School of Art in 2001, and an MFA in Art Research from the Faculty of Art and Architecture of the Islamic Azad University in 2003. He is a member of the Iranian Painters Society (IPS) as well as the founder and art director of MERXOUT Projects and Tehran Art Group. As a curator, he has held several projects since 2010, including “Midday,” Mohsen Gallery, 2017 and “Salvation, Gaza,” Niavaran Complex, 2014. Bayani’s work explores politics, sociology, and philosophy as related to human existence and experience. In his works, he particularly focuses on the colonization of his subjects by the politics of power, where acts of violence and tyranny are underhand deals, too artful to be covered by the mainstream and prestigious information channels. Bayani’s work has been exhibited extensively in solo and group shows in Iran and around the world. He lives and works in Tehran.
